FACDEV: Magna: Developing and Teaching an Online Course

Hours: 20

Through this excellent professional development course, you receive seven weeks of Magna’s best digital programming along with unit assessments and an online discussion board where you can interact with peers enrolled in the same course.

Learning Goals
At the conclusion of this course, you’ll be able to:
  • Articulate the differences between face-to-face and online teaching
  • Build and present online courses with confidence
  • Create syllabi, assessments, feedback methods, and other classroom tools based on best practices
  • Create syllabi, assessments, feedback methods, and other classroom tools based on best practices

Each week from June 14 to August 1, 2020, you will gain professional development content from a diverse selection of speakers. This course will take approximately 20-hours to complete.

How It Works:
  • At the start of the course, participants have access to all course content and can work at their own pace to complete the course.
  • Assessments follow most units or programs.
  • Participants can use the discussion forum to interact with other participants nationwide and discuss the course content
  • At the end of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.
    • A new tab will be visible (Certifications). Participants need to click the Certifications tab and they will have the option to view, print or save the Certificate. Once completed, please email facdev@austincc.edu with attached certificate.

    To Begin:
      1.Go to www.magnapubs.com/profile
      2.Enter your email address and password > select Log In

    FOR NEW USERS: Select Create an Account and follow the on-screen instructions. If you get the error message “This email address is already registered” click Log In in the upper left corner and click “Lost your password?”. Follow the prompts to reset the password.

    FOR EXISTING USERS: If you need to reset your password, be sure to add noreply@magnapubs.com to your address book to avoid the email going into a junk or spam email folder. The password reset email will have a subject line of “Magna Password Assistance”

      3.Once logged in and on the My Account click “Go to Magna Online Courses”
      4.If you are taken to a screen that says “Go to my purchases” use CLICK HERE to continue
      5.In the upper right corner > Enter a Registration Code
      6.Enter the Registration Code austincc32-st > Validate
      7.If the Registration Code is active and valid, you will see a green box that says “Congratulations, your code has been validated!”
      8.Agree to the Terms and Conditions by checking the box > Redeem
      9.On the course dashboard click Start Course to begin

    Access to this course will be available until August 1, 2020 (11:59 pm CT)
