Description:

Rubrics are a valuable tool for instructors to assess and grade students’ work in a consistent and impartial manner. Rubrics can assist a student with effectively organizing their materials so that they meet the criteria for a graded assessment. This workshop will demonstrate how to create a Rubric, associate it with gradable content, then assign a score based on the criteria provided.

Objectives:

Recognize the benefits for students whereby using rubrics can assist in submitting work that more effectively meets grading criteria.
Recognize the benefits for instructors who use rubrics, allowing for less subjectivity and greater impartiality with grading assessments.
Define various types of criteria and levels of achievement that can be implemented when creating rubrics.
Identify the gradable content where rubrics are applicable.
Determine best practices for when to make rubrics visible to students.
Identify where rubrics are located in an assessment and assign the appropriate level of achievement to a student’s work.
