SSD20: Using Perusall to Ensure Every Student is Prepared for Class

Perusall is a social learning platform that prepares students for class. The platform, originally developed at Harvard University and now used at thousands of institutions globally, incorporates a novel e-book reader with collaborative annotation tools and automated grading capabilities to ensure students learn more, come to class prepared, and are more engaged in the learning experience. Discover how Perusall enables instructors to teach more effectively, understand student misconceptions, structure class discussion, and save time

A participant walks away with:
  • An understanding of how to effectively implement Perusall in their own classes.

Presenter:

Brian Lukoff is an educator, technology designer, and engineer with a passion for assessment and innovation. He is currently co-founder and CEO of Perusall and Lecturer at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. He was previously co-founder and CEO of Learning Catalytics, which was acquired by Pearson in 2013. Prior to that he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Technology and Education at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University. He received a Ph.D. from the Stanford University School of Education, an M.S. in statistics from Stanford University, and a B.A. in mathematics from Cornell University.
