SSD20: Deaf / Hard of Hearing Student in my Class – What Do I Do?
Hours: 1
Join us for an opportunity to get your questions answered about having a deaf/hard of hearing (hh) student in your class. Will there be interpreters? Will there be a CART provider? What does that entail? How do I get my lectures captioned? Bring your questions and we will have a robust discussion of the whats, hows, and whys. Bring your ideas, too. We'll talk about platforms and the pros/cons of each one available to us. One size does not fit all.
A participant walks away with:
- Awareness of ACC's resources for Deaf / HH students, and the proper ways to support them in your class
Presenter:
Ginger Bennett: "Having worked with ACC Interpreter Services for over 15 years in a variety of settings has given me many opportunities to receive feedback from students, instructors, and interpreters about what went well. Prior to ACC, I worked in the public education sector and as an independent contractor. Every day is a new challenge and a new moment to do better."
This workshop will be held virtually via BB Collaborate. To access the workshop, go to the Summer Software Day webpage at https://tled.austincc.edu/development-opportunities/programs/summer-software-day/ and click the "Connect" button on the day of the conference.
