SSD20: Lecture from Home - using Mediasite and VidGrid

Hours: 2.25

Mediasite and VidGrid are lecture-capture systems that allow instructors to record content at home computers or other devices, like iPads or iPhones. Recordings captured via Mediasite and VidGrid are often posted online allowing students to view them at their convenience.

Lecture capture content can include:
  • Computer screens
  • Webpages
  • Webcams and microphones
  • Powerpoint slides
  • Tutorials
This workshop introduces some of the key features of Mediasite and VidGrid, as well as best practices in creating video lectures. (The workshop does not cover all of the functionality within the platforms). Realtime demonstrations will be provided.

A participant walks away with:
  • Learn what Lecture Capture is
  • Learn about lecture capture applications at ACC - Mediasite and VidGrid
  • Best practices for lecture capture
  • Demonstration and comparison of common features for Mediasite and Vidgrid
  • How to get more help with training
Presenters:

Rene Renteria has served as Manager of TLED Media Services for over seven years. He leads a team of Faculty Instructional Support Specialist across ten campuses. Faculty can get help from Media Services with: Blackboard Tier 1 support, desktop conferencing, Google software, and Adobe Creative applications.

Stephanie Bogdanich is a Faculty & Instructional Support Specialist at the South Austin Campus with an M.S. in Learning Technology. She is also a published author & digital media creator.
