SSD20: Course Evaluation Through Blackboard

Hours: 1

With the sudden move to remote learning after Spring break, we have the opportunity to rethink how we issue course evaluations to students and share evaluation results with faculty. Last year alone (the academic year 2019-2020), we used around 9600 pink envelopes and 180,000 forms. This transition to move our paper course evaluations online will not only help us reduce our carbon footprint, but also make the course evaluations more accessible to faculty and students. We have upgraded to a newer version of the course evaluation system in June. With this upgrade, students can now take the course evaluations directly in Blackboard (Bb) on any device, and faculty can view evaluation results directly in Bb as well. In this workshop, we are going to demonstrate the new process for faculty and students. Most importantly, we would like to take this opportunity to discuss any of your questions or concerns regarding course evaluations.

A participant walks away with:
  • Creating new opportunities to integrate Blackboard from the student and faculty's perspectives.
  • You will also engage in small and big group discussions to share your feedback/concerns regarding course evaluations.
Presenter:

"Shih-Ting is currently managing projects for the Faculty Evaluation office. She also teaches for the Student Development department. She has taught face-to-face, hybrid and online versions of the Student Development courses; and enjoys them all. She finds it rewarding to support the ACC student success initiative; and am grateful for the opportunity to meet so many of our wonderful and hardworking students.

Shih-Ting has a Bachelor degree in English literature from Providence University in Taiwan, a Master's degree in Educational Human Resource Development from Indiana State University, and a Doctoral degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Texas at Austin. Her passion is in human development and education. She has worked in related fields in k-16 and corporate settings."

This workshop will be held virtually via BB Collaborate. To access the workshop, go to the Summer Software Day webpage at https://tled.austincc.edu/development-opportunities/programs/summer-software-day/ and click the "Connect" button on the day of the conference.

If any accommodations are needed for this workshop, please email facdev@austincc.edu as soon as possible but at least five days before the workshop. Please include the name of the workshop. You will be contacted by a member of our staff to discuss your specific needs. Thank you.
