SSD20: Bringing the Cut-Up Online: Strategies to Teach Writing Structure
Hours: 1
While the cut-up technique began as a form of poetry, it has more practical uses as well. Variations of the cut-up process can be used to teach structure at both the paragraph level and the whole-paper level. While the cut-up works well in a classroom environment, it does not necessarily translate to the online classroom in a straightforward way. Based on practical teaching experience, this workshop will demonstrate options for ways to apply the the cut-up to both synchronous and asynchronous online classes.
A participant walks away with:- An understanding of how the cut-up technique can teach writing structure across disciplines.
- How to translate the cut-up to a synchronous online classroom.
- How to translate the cut-up to the asynchronous online classroom.
