SSD19: Using Photoshop to Make Game Art

Explore the applied use of graphics in your industry! Ever want to know the basics of Photoshop and how it can be used across multiple disciplines, in the classroom, art studio, business world or personal enrichment? We will learn the basics of compositing graphics and making stand alone graphics and explore how these skills can be applied to a variety of disciplines.
At the completion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of Photoshop selection tools, brushes, layers and blending modes.
- Identify ways to apply PS skills and integrate ways to apply PS to the classroom
- Integrate PS skills with other Adobe Creative Cloud products
A graduate of University of Southern California School of Fine Arts, Sara Farr has 18+ years experience writing and developing training in current industry techniques for computer graphics & game art. Before becoming a full-time professor with ACC, Sara worked 8+ years as a cg/game artist in the game development industry. Published titles include: “Oregon Trail 3rd edition” (TLC), “Reader Rabbit Kindergarten” (TLC), “Disney/Pixar Jessie’s Wild West Rodeo” (Disney) “Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Academy” (Disney).
She has held leadership roles in the Austin chapters of IGDA and ACM SIGGRAPH, both of which she has been a long time member. Sara has been creating cg worlds and environments since she was 14, and shares her love of computer art by speaking regularly to young women aspiring to a career in computer graphics and game art.
