SDD19: Collaborating to Make Connections that Matter

Hours: 1.33

There is no shortage of resources or departments a student can go to for help at ACC. But, if you were a student would you feel more comfortable approaching a stranger or someone you interact with on a regular basis? Every Connection Matters! This workshop, presented by Student Life staff, will discuss resources at ACC and how staff and faculty can use their interactions and connections with students to identify student challenges. We will discuss ways you can actively collaborate with other departments and how to form authentic partnerships with colleagues to address student needs and break down silos.

Goals:
- Discuss resources that promote student success which allows students to “Start Here, Get There.”
- Empower staff to incorporate those resources in their daily interactions to engage students both in and outside of the classroom.
- Provide pathways to build intentional relationships by collaborating with other departments to break down silos.

A participant in this workshop will walk away with the motivation and tools to have intentional conversations with students they interact with. These interactions allow us as ACC employees to build stronger relationships and connect students to the resources needed for success. We will discuss resources in Student Life and various departments using a holistic lens to promote collaboration that addresses student needs, and promotes learning opportunities outside of the classroom. Our goal is for participants to feel inspired to collaborate with departments outside of their own to promote student success with intentionality.
