SDD19: Teach and Engage in the ACCelerators
Hours: 1.33
Interact with students in a space that fosters dynamic learning. The ACCelerator features classrooms, study rooms, and numerous computer pod stations that can be reserved by faculty and staff for a variety of purposes. We offer training to assist faculty & staff on how to best utilize the facility for teaching and on technology offered in the ACCelerator. The workshop will be held in the HLC ACCelerator in zone 1. It will cover the following topics: Instruction & Learning format, Environment Etiquette, Technology & Equipment and Administration & Operations.
Participants will gain an understanding of the ACCelerator a) best teaching and learning strategies b) operational procedures b) utilization strategies of learning and student support services and c) software and technology equipment.
Curtiss Stevens is an Executive Director at Austin Community College, Austin, Texas. Curtiss has more than 20 years’ experience in higher education, including roles in admissions and financial aid, student affairs, international education, academics and curriculum development, athletics and was a geography professor for over 8 years. Curtiss earned a bachelor’s degree in Geography at Valparaiso University, a master’s degree in Geographic Education and Research at Western Michigan University, and did doctoral studies in Economic Geography at Indiana State University. |
