SDD19: Setting up Google Classroom as Your Communication Platform

Hours: 1.33

Google Classroom is a communications tool that integrates with ACC gmail and the Google Docs suite (G-Suite). It had its first major revision in the Fall of 2018 and is still adding functions. In this workshop, participants will enroll in a Google Classroom as well as set up their own. We will cover all the basics to get you started today with seamless communications with students and staff.

Participants will experience the flow of Google Classroom communications and how use it to increase communications with their students or staff. They will experience Google Classroom as both a student and a teacher. They will leave having set up their first Google Classroom and with ideas for how to increase connections with their students or staff.

Herb Coleman, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Professor of Psychology and Student Development. He's taught at ACC for 29 years and recently retired as Director of Instructional Technology. He has used Google Classroom since it first came out 4 years ago and has presented at several conferences as well as written articles on it's use. He attended the Google Summer Faculty Institute in 2018 where the new changes to Google Classroom were announced.
