SDD19: Equity and High School Programs at ACC

This workshop offers an overview of the High School Program division's equity goals and outcomes, highlighting opportunities and improvement strategies over a four-year period. The presentation includes some surprising revelations about demographic trends that impact success among High School Programs students that may have broader applications for the achievement of college-wide equity goals.
A participant in this workshop will walk away with: an understanding of the role equity plays in guiding High School Programs services to students, insights into best practices and strategies for improving outcomes among historically underserved populations, and ideas for expanding analysis into instructional and service solutions that may improve outcomes for the broader student population.
Dr. Melissa Biegert currently serves as Director of Advising and Completion for High School Programs at Austin Community College. In this role, she oversees advising, academic coaching, and student success initiatives for more than 7,000 dual credit and early college high school students. She has over 25 years experience in research and writing across all areas of P-20 education and has served in teaching or administrative positions at numerous institutions of higher education. Dr. Biegert received her B.A. from Harvard University, M.A. from Vanderbilt University, Ph.D. from the University of Texas, and a post-doc certification from the Harvard Divinity & Extension Schools. |
