SDD19: Digging into Discussion
Hours: 1.33
"Digging into Discussion" shares research on Active Learning and Group Work along with personal learning experiences during my time as a Project ACC Teaching Fellow. I will share how I implemented student-led discussions into my classroom. This workshop will include lecture and group participation.
A participant in this workshop will walk away with an understanding of evidence-based teaching methods on improving discussion in the classroom, an understanding of the effects of classroom community and spacial dynamics on group work, and new ideas for overcoming a personal struggle with discussion in their own classrooms.
Mendy Holliday is an adjunct professor in English and Student Development who has always been interested in active and engaged learning. I have participated in The Great Teaching Retreat , and was also a member of the Faculty Fellows, a group developed to research active learning and teach back to faculty.
