The Equity Leaders Orientation (ELO) is a two-part introductory learning experience focused on institutional factors that promote and sustain racial inequities in higher education. Facilitators Dr. Martha Ramos-Duffer and Dr. Mark Gooden will guide the group through interactive and reflective exercises and activities designed to help participants begin questioning policies and practices that unconsciously hinder success for historically underserved racial groups. Participants will be oriented and introduced to the concepts, language and practices needed to lead their areas in culturally conscious and inclusive approaches to improve the climate for greater enrollment, retention and completion rates for underserved groups. Please note that ELO registration and attendance is required for both parts of the orientation on Wednesday, April 12, from noon to 4:00 p.m. and Friday, April 14, from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
