SDD17: Forgiving Your Student Loans & Integrating Financial Education into Instruction

Hours: 1.25

In this two-for-one session, you’ll first gain a greater knowledge of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF), one of the most beneficial federal student loan programs available to borrowers. You’ll learn about who is eligible, the types of loans that are eligible, and what you need to provide to the Department of Education for approval.
In the second half of the session, ACC’s Student Money Management Office will instruct participants on the snowball method of debt reduction, and provide an overview of the programs and resources available through the Student Money Management Office.

Participants will walk away with a clear to-do list to get started down the debt reduction path. Participants will leave excited to talk to students about the tools available through the Student Money Management Office to help them take control of their finances early in their college careers.

Eileen Eiden is the Student Loan Supervisor at ACC. She has been working with a variety of students regarding their student loan debt for the last seven years. She has a vast knowledge of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
Karen Serna is the Director of ACC's Student Money Management Office. She has spent the last 13 years teaching financial education and developing programming promoting financial stability in low-income households.
