SDD17: Creating a Graphic Syllabus

Hours: 1.25

Frustrated by your students’ failure to read the syllabus? Do you feel your syllabus is more of a “Terms of Service” contract rather than an important course tool that engages and informs students? If so, sign up for this workshop that will cover the organizing principles of the graphic syllabus. We will learn how to create visual excitement and interject positive and motivating language into this all important course artifact.
You can view an example graphic syllabi here:

Participants will learn the benefits of a graphic syllabus to increase student learning and engagement. Principles of syllabus design, information presentation, and use of Bloom's Taxonomy to effectively communicate course details will be covered.
The workshop will present both theoretical and practical syllabus design topics.
