SDD17: Beyond PowerPoint: How to Deliver Engaging Presentations

Having trouble connecting with your students? Suffering from "Dry Lecture Syndrome?" Participate in this workshop to pick up easy-to-integrate tactics. No matter the subject matter or material, there are methods that increase in-class student engagement. During this workshop, we will cover: best practices of PowerPoint; methods of subject introduction; ways to connect students with lecture notes; and shared peer experiences.
By attending the workshop on “how to deliver engaging presentations,” faculty members will (1) learn various methods of classroom preparation, (2) illustrate clear understanding of the course materials, (3) boost credibility and confidence with students, (4) establish strong relationship with students, (5) hone in-class presenting skills (including proper use of visual aids), and (6) gain feedback on current teaching styles.
A professional lecturer for more than 15 years, Darrick Nicholas has served as spokesperson for various private and public entities. He has taught public speaking for more than a decade. He currently serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Communication Students of Austin Community College. |
