SDD17: Peer Teaching for Improving Student Success: Easy Ways to Set It Up

Hours: 1.25

Peer teaching is an effective instructional strategy to encourage mastery, self-reflection and learner engagement. It is also an engaging activity to help students practice communication skills. Several research findings have shown that peer teaching can improve student success in Math, Psychology or Medical fields.
In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the concept of peer teaching and share authentic examples. Participants will learn how to set up peer teaching strategies using Blackboard built-in tools: Voice Thread and Discussion Board. The idea of peer teaching can be applicable to any discipline and at any level. Participants will have a small group discussion and design of a peer teaching activity.

At the completion of this workshop, you will be able to design one peer teaching activity for your class and identify ways to set it up in Blackboard or using existing ACC resources.
