SDD16: May the force be with you! Resources and ideas for greening your campus
Hours: 1.5
Objective:
1. Participants will learn how to start a Green Team at their campus.
2. Participants will learn how to overcome some unique challenges for semester-based student engagement.
3. Participants will learn how to raise awareness and influence behavior of building occupants to help improve sustainability in older, non-LEED certified facilities.
Learn how Student Life, Campus Management, and Sustainability staff joined forces to start the ACC South Austin Campus Green Team. With a "chem free" weed pulling party, Love Your Lake Valentine's Day litter cleanup, recycling bin re-vamp, and MRF-tastic field trip, Green Team members have had a fun and informative first year - all while helping the campus become more sustainable. We’ll share some tips for Green Team structures and activities, as well as the challenges and successes we encountered during the first year that may help as you navigate the exciting realm of increasing campus engagement while “greening” your campus!
