SDD16: Shining a Light on Soft-Skills: A Teamwork Challenge for Students

Hours: 1.5

Objective: Increase teamwork while improving soft skills and collaboration among your students. The workshop participants will be given the training necessary to program and connect a microcontroller to display LED lights. The project can be used in class to show how working as a team can accomplish more than any individual effort. As teamwork and communication skills are the number one requested skill set that employers seek from new employees, increasing these skills is important in any class.

Use a seemingly impossible challenge to increase teamwork, collaboration, and soft-skills among your students. The students, working together as a team, will complete the circuitry, programming, and develop a short presentation in one hour- and you will too! No experience required!

Shana Shaw has 25 years of engineering and education experience with a passion for helping others and inspiring students to improve their critical thinking and communication skills. Accomplishing the impossible is achievable with collaboration and teamwork!
