SDD16: Pinpointing Student Learning Obstacles for Accurate Resource Connection: A Multiple Choice Exam Example

Hours: 1.5

Objective: To enable faculty to better connect academically deficient students with student support services.

Many faculty use multiple choice exams as part of their assessment repertoire. Yet these exam results are frequently not used by faculty to connect academically deficient students to the wide variety of student services that might be of assistance. This workshop provides faculty with a simple, easy to use diagnostic tool that will (1) make students more aware of their learning difficulties, and (2), connect students to appropriate student service support functions in a way that links specific discipline content issues to more generic learning problems.

Michael Petrowsky has been a Professor of Economics at Austin Community College for eight years. He previously taught (and retired from) the Maricopa Community Colleges. He holds graduate degrees in economics, business, public administration, and education.
