SDD16: Reading and Writing Obituaries: Survey of Your Life

Hours: 1.5

Objective: The goal is to get people ready to write family and personal obituaries. In a spiritual context it is also to help people survey their life to make sure they are living the way they intend to be recalled in death.

This workshop has been presented to the Metropolitan Breakfast Club, Adult Sunday School classes at several local churches, AMBIS and repeatedly to Seton Cove. It brings examples of interesting obituaries that allow us to explore what matters in the writing of a meaningful obituary and discuss generally the history, structure and significance of the obituary.

Ginny Agnew received her first graduate degree in Library Science. She now works part-time at the Rio Grande Reference desk. Her second is in law. She works part-time in her husband's law firm which specializes in legal ethics. However, for the past decade, one of her other interests has been the reading and writing of obituaries.
