Documentation Standards: Is There A Safe Harbor Left? - WEBINAR

Hours: 1.5

Documentation Standards: Is there a safe harbor left? Clearly postsecondary institutions must now satisfy a higher legal standard when seeking documentation from student with disabilities. In webinar 2 of our Best Practices Series, we will discuss recent enforcement agency rulings and court decisions to identify the new rules of engagement that have been established for individuals with disabilities, as well as, institutions with respect to documentation centered disagreements and conflicts. During the webinar, we will answer the following questions: Disability determinations, accommodation decisions, qualified status determinations ... should documentation be analyzed differently for each? What does a proper individualized assessment look like (i.e., what factors are relevant)? When is the request for additional documentation supportable and what are the best methods to use? What are the most common mistakes made with respect to documentation practices and procedures? What lessons should be taken lessons from the LSAC case and the resulting best practices guidelines? What factors support a determination that documentation is not sufficient?
