SDD15: Low Cost/No Cost Emerging Technology for the Classroom

This workshop will demonstrate and provide contacts for free or inexpensive technologies that can help with student engagement, quick grading and feedback, presentation and capture technology. This will be interactive so attendees will see how students will experience the technology.
Herbert L. Coleman, Ph.D
Dr. Herb Coleman is an adjunct professor of psychology and the Director of Instructional Computing and Technology at Austin Community College in Austin, TX. A doctoral grad of the University of Texas College of Education Instructional Technology program, his dissertation was on gender role personality traits and the use of technology. He has since written a chapter for the book, "Team-Based Learning in the Social Sciences and Humanities: Group Work that Works to Generate Critical Thinking and Engagement", presented on clickers at two national conferences, and presented twice at SXSW-Interactive.
In his role as Director of Instructional Computing and Technology he assists faculty in obtaining, learning and using technology to enhance instruction. He also frequently leads discussions on copyright and computer ethics. He is a member of the Consortium College and University Media Centers (CCUMC) and the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA), as well as an affiliate member of the APA. |
