This presentation and discussion will explore the term "grit" (passion and perseverance for long-term goals) as used by Angela Lee Duckworth in her Ted Talk. We will also discuss information on "growth mindset" as described by Carol Dweck. These ideas could help students to change their "mind set" to become more flexible and develop more "grit" so they successfully graduate and flourish in their careers.

Ann Palmer is a professor of Developmental Reading at Eastview Campus. She has an MA in Education, and she is a Certified Academic Language Therapist specializing in training students with dyslexia. She has been teaching at ACC for almost 30 years and enjoys the challenge of finding new information that she can share with others and that others can share with her.
