GA14: Improve the Writing Process with Turnitin

Hours: 1.5

www.turnitin.com

This workshop will provide an overview of the Turnitin software service being piloted this fall at Austin Community College. Attendees will understand the basic functions and tools that Turnitin provides including Originality Reports, GradeMark, and Peermark and how to utilize them to provide layered and rich feedback to students to improve the writing process. Originality reports help professors detect unoriginal content and provide feedback to students on proper citation, quoting, or paraphrasing. In addition, the reports can be used for issues involving academic integrity. The workshop will cover class and assignment setup, using Grademark to improve grading efficiency and depth, and utilizing rubrics and grading forms.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an afternoon follow up workshop to set up their classes and initial assignments in a lab.
