Structuring Math Collaborative Activities

Hours: 4

Presented by Bront Miller. Bront presents at premier education conferences (e.g., NADE, League for Innovation, AtDs DREAM, AMATYC, and Virginias New Horizons) on pedagogy, cooperative learning, and developmental mathematics. In this highly interactive math-specific workshop, participants will get hands-on experience with cooperative learning strategies for the math classroom from developmental to calculus, and even statistics. Participants will learn how to structure cooperative activities using the key elements of positive interdependence and individual accountability. Participants will also tackle the roadblocks to successful implementation of cooperative learning and explore techniques to grade/assess group work. Participants will develop cooperative activities specific to the classes they are teaching right now and will come away from the workshop with something they can try in their classes the next week! Working lunch provided.
