QEP: Teaching Innovations Symposium: Study Skills for Success

Hours: 1.25

This workshop will focus on helping faculty, counselors and lab assistance to integrate study skills into their classes, labs and advisement sessions. Classroom and Web based designs will be discuss on how to teach students study skills. Participants will be taught different study skills assessments, and study skills strategies such as how students should take notes, read text, complete homework, learning information, take tests and reduce test anxiety. Last an overall college wide study skills program will be suggested for freshman students, students repeating classes and students on academic/financial aid probation or suspension.The presenter, Paul Nolting, is a national expert in assessing math learning problems - from study skills to learning disabilities - and developing effective learning strategies and testing accommodations.
