Equity Principles and Cultural Relevance: Creating Classrooms To Empower Completion

Hours: 6.5

Todays college classroom is more diverse than ever, and yet faculty dont always possess the skills and information to address the wide variety of cultures in their classes. This workshop allows professors time to engage in individual reflection and group dialogue examining the role of culturally responsive learning environments in advancing equity and excellence in community college settings. Topics include examining sources of opportunity gaps, evidence of institutional bias and understanding what doesnt work for addressing disparities in student outcomes and why. Presented by Karen R. Schaeffer and Seena M. Skelton. To see agenda, go to http://www.austincc.edu/hr/profdev/events/fd-workshops/march29-workshop.html
