SDD13: Embracing a Plant Based Diet

Plant based diets are all the rage these days with everyone from Bill Clinton to Ellen DeGeneres adopting a mostly vegan diet for ethical, environmental, and health benefits. In this fun and hopefully enlightening workshop we will learn why we need to cut out some of the foods that contribute to heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and cancer and how to add more plants (vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains, and legumes) into our diet. We will cover where to find healthy food in town without breaking your budget, how to easily and simply prepare greens, grains, and beans, and where to find recipes that are nutritious and delicious. Bring your questions so we can demystify some things like superfoods, omega 3s, aa, quinoa, green smoothies, and hemp seeds.
