SDD12: p.a.p.a. Collegiate Curriculum: Description and Pilot
Hours: 1.5
| The Parenting and Paternity Awareness (p.a.p.a.) Collegiate project is an effort to make students aware of planning their goals and major events in their life (i.e., college graduation, securing a job, having a healthy relationship, and then becoming a parent) and how the order of their life events can influence their goals. It also provides legal and psychoeducational information on the importance of fathers presence in their children's lives. Jaimie Krause, adjunct faculty in ACCs Social and Behavioral Sciences, developed curriculum materials which are closely aligned with the content taught in HUDE 0111: Transition to College Success, however a number of different types of classes could benefit from the information and content. For example, students in a developmental writing course could be assigned a comparative paper on a current event or the challenges of a parenting vs. non-parenting student. Please join us to learn more about the p.a.p.a. Collegiate curriculum and learn about the findings from the pilot this past fall. Youll also receive a copy of the p.a.p.a. Collegiate curriculum materials.
