Responding to Plagiarism: A Northridge Faculty Workshop

Hours: 2

Finding proof of plagiarism is a problem for college faculty, but once you find it, how do you award a penalty according to ACC policy? This workshop will define plagiarism, show how to prevent it and how to locate sources. We will discuss ACC policy and procedure for academic dishonesty cases, explaining the roles and rights of all involved in the process. The presenters, Clint Rodenfels (NRG Dean of Student Services) and Katherine Staples (Professor of English), will provide examples, handouts, and model notification letters. We'll have time for discussion and a brief workshop review of syllabi at the end of the session. Brown bag lunches are welcome! Bring your syllabi for review and instruction on plagiarism, documentation, and scholastic dishonesty to share.
