NON-CREDIT: Reducing Stress Through Meditation

Hours: 0

We live in a time of ever increasing change. Our old habits and ways of understanding the world and our place in it are collapsing under the weight of massive amounts of new information and a near-constant compulsion to multitask. The stress we feel is taking its toll on our bodies, minds, and souls through illness, exhaustion, and a sense of isolation. But there are proven ways to reduce the stress we feel. Through these meditation techniques you will learn to live a life that is more relaxed, purposeful, and connected. Come spend an hour each week learning and practicing meditation techniques based on cognitive science principles and watch your stress decrease and your health increase. Reducing Stress Through Meditation classes are free. No special clothes or paraphernalia are needed. All you need is a willingness to experience a new way of being with yourself and in the world. Classes will generally be held on Thursdays from noon to 1:00 pm beginning on October 7 at the ACC Highland Business campus (room TBD). Jim Van Overschelde is a cognitive psychologist who has been meditating for more than 30 years and teaching meditation for 10 years.
