The syllabus communicates critical information students need to revisit throughout the semester. This presentation provides an overview of how an accessible syllabus development project was conducted to produce a department-wide used accessible document. This presentation will also offer tips on developing an engaging, visual and accessible, student-centered syllabus document.

A participant walks away with:

A visual and accessible syllabus template to customize for their own use.
A job-aid document for how to customize the syllabus template.
A document of references and resources related to creating accessible documents.
A PowerPoint "job-aid" file for how to customize the provided syllabus template.

Presenter(s):

Virgil McCullough is an Instructional Designer in the Office of Curriculum Development. Over the past year or so his key area of effort has been associated with projects related to producing engaging and accessible documents, and most specifically, with developing accessible and visual templates for department syllabus documents. He was recently awarded his Digital Accessibility Certification: Instructional Design track certificate from the Texas Distance Learning Association.
