SDD21: Resilience: Reaching In, Reaching Out, Reaching Around

This session will explore participant perceptions of resilience, the connection between emotional health and resilience, and strategies for building resilience. Participants will reflect on indicators of stress, assess resilience skills, identify sources of support, and begin to create a personalized action and self-care plan.
A participant walks away with:
- Gaining an understanding of personal perceptions about stress, conflict, and resilience
- Increasing their awareness of the connection between emotional health and resilience
- Brainstorming strategies for building resilience and support
Presenter(s):
Janelle Green serves as a Manager with the ACCelerators at ACC and has a background in organizational leadership, higher education, and fitness and nutrition coaching. She earned her MBA from Loyola University Maryland and is currently pursuing her doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Abilene Christian University. Janelle has a passion for drawing out potential in individuals and teams and supporting others in overcoming barriers that prevent them from experiencing the best versions of themselves. She has extensive experience in leadership and team-building facilitation and training programs and has had the opportunity to create and implement several leadership development, student success, and diversity and inclusion programs from the ground up at the various colleges she has worked for. Janelle is excited to be part of the ACC community and looks forward to contributing to the growth of ACC!
Darrell Merriweather has served as a Senior Advising Specialist at ACC for the past four years. The Areas of Study that he primarily supports include: Health Sciences, Education, Business, and Arts, Digital Media, and Communication. Darrell finds tremendous joy and fulfillment in working with students to support them in meeting their educational and career goals. In addition to his role as a Senior Advising Specialist Darrell contributes to the success of students and colleagues by serving as a mentor, participating in outreach to the community, and facilitating conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion. Darrell earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. In his leisure time Darrell enjoys watching documentaries and reading both fiction and non-fiction books.
