SDD21: Blackboard Ally & Online Course Accessibility
Hours: 1
Ally is a tool within Blackboard that provides alternative formats for students who need audio or electronic braille and so much more! At a glance you can find out if the documents in your course will be accessible to screen readers. Ally walks you through the process of making documents accessible when they aren’t. We will demonstrate how you can use this tool to protect yourself from liability, meet Quality Matters standards, and most importantly, help every student succeed.
A participant walks away with:
- Recognize uses and features of Ally
- Evaluate the accessibility of your course
Convert PDF, Word, and Powerpoint documents into accessible formats
- Apply accessibility best practices to files as you are creating them
Presenter(s):
Stephanie Bogdanich has worked in Instructional Technology for over 20 years and recently finished her MS in the same subject. She is also a certified QM peer reviewer and facilitator. In her spare time, she wrote a book called "The Taco Cleanse", blogs, and volunteers with lots of organizations in Austin.
