Trellis’ Student Financial Wellness Survey: Results and Implications for Community Colleges

These results from the Fall 2019 semester survey provide new insights on students who work while attending college, those who support family members while in college, and other key financial behaviors (including the use of student loans, credit cards, and payday and auto title loans). Trellis’ SFWS received responses from more than 38,000 undergraduate students from 78 colleges and universities in 20 states. This presentation will also include a discussion of topics specific to community colleges. After a one-hour presentation, small staff conversations will be organized to promote reflection and discuss collaborative solutions to support ACC student financial wellness. Ms. Fletcher has worked at Trellis Company since 2005 in the Research Department and currently is a Senior Research Analyst. She has helped develop and maintain numerous public policy reports, including the State of Student Aid and Higher Education in Texas, the School Fact Sheets, analyses of the risk factors for dropping out of college, and repayment patterns of student loan and Parent PLUS loan borrowers. Carla earned her master’s degree from Texas State University – San Marcos.
