SDD20: Learning to Thrive: Addressing Home and Food Insecurity

A study released in 2018 by Temple University finds that nearly half of the students in two-year colleges voiced concerns about home or food insecurity. What can you do when a student states they are homeless or hungry? How you respond can make the difference between students dropping out or completing their courses.

A participant walks away with:

You will obtain an understanding of how food and home insecurity is effecting our ACC students. You will walk away with tips and resources to begin to dismantle the barriers poverty imposes on our students.

Presenter(s):

Marie Trzeciak removes barriers to academic success for students with economical challenges. She strives to find meaningful ways to work with ACC faculty and staff to increase awareness and improve support for students living in poverty.
