SSD19: How to Revitalize Traditional Course Work through Adobe Products
Hours: 1.25
Are you interested in how to get started in adding Digital Literacy across your curriculum? Participants will brainstorm and ideas will be shared on how faculty new to Adobe products can convert the traditional research paper into a creative opportunity for students. Participants will also explore how to turn that basic class presentation into a dynamic project that students can add to their portfolios. Results from recent conversions in the Liberal Arts will be shared among others. This session is designed for all faculty members who are new to Adobe products. No technical experience required, just a willingness to learn and try new things!
At the completion of this session, participants will be able to:
•Gain the ability to contribute to students' digital citizenship.
•Find the courage to begin the Adobe journey.
•Foster creativity by using digital tools in the classroom.
•Discover innovative ideas on how to convert traditional academic papers and assignments into
creative opportunities for students.
•Incorporate Adobe products into everyday lectures.
•Establish a collaborative network with faculty from other disciplines striving for the same outcomes.
•Review assessment rubrics for new learning artifacts.
As chair of the Communication Studies Department, Theresa is committed to enhancing the digital citizenship of all students who enroll in a Communication Studies course. Whether a Comm major or not, Theresa believes that today's workforce calls for all graduates to not only be exposed to, but to be competent in, digital literacy. While having been at ACC for 19 years, Theresa is not new to teaching, but she is new to Adobe products and is energized and excited to forge together with her colleagues on this creative academic journey.
