SSD18: Google Classroom IS my LMS (but still plays nice with Blackboard)

Hours: 1.25

This workshop will demonstrate and provide faculty the opportunity to interact with Google Classroom as a platform for making, receiving and grading assignments as well as helping students to collaborate and communicate with the faculty and each other. Tips will be given on to use Google Classroom to support instruction and in conjunction with Blackboard.

Participants will leave the workshop having joined and experienced Google Classroom as well as creating their own classroom and posting a link in Blackboard.

Herb Coleman has a bachelor’s of science degree with a double major in Radio-TV Production and Psychology. He also has a master’s degree in community college education with a concentration in psychology. He earned his Ph.D from the University of Texas in Instructional Technology. He has taught psychology at ACC for 29 years and recently retired from the Instructional Technology Department after 20 years. As an instructor he uses many different types of technology to increase student engagement, collaboration and communication. This includes clickers, Plickers, Google classroom, video, podcasts and textbook online platforms.
