Lynda.com: Teaching Online: Synchronous Classes

This online course is provided by Lynda.com, which ACC has an institutional subscription, so there is no charge to take the course. Below is the course description and following that are the instructions for how to access the course on Lynda.com.

Teaching Online: Synchronous Classes

Explore tools, tips, and techniques for leading real-time virtual training. No matter what teaching tool you use, from Adobe Connect to Blackboard to Google Hangouts, you can apply these lessons to your own digital classroom to increase collaboration and connection with students. Corbin and Kat Anderson cover the elements of creating virtual synchronous training, including selecting the right tools, implementing instructional strategies, and managing learner interactions and engagement. Find out how to apply the flipped classroom model to online teaching and get tips for engaging learners and assessing learning. These lessons are a great resource for anyone who conducts real-time training on the web, including instructional designers and presenters.

To set up your account and access courses on Lynda.com, follow the instructions at:

Once you have logged on to Lynda.com, enter “Teaching Online: Synchronous Classes” in the search bar at the top of the screen. Select the course.

To receive credit for completion of a Lynda.com course:
1. Log on to Lynda.com
2. Use the drop down menu for your account (by your first name in the upper right corner of the screen) and select “Certificates”.
3. Find the completed course you are claiming credit for. Select the “View/Print” link to the right of that course listing.
4. A new window should appear displaying your completion certificate. Select “Save as PDF” in the upper left of that window.
5. Attach your saved certificate PDF file to an email and send it to facdev@austincc.edu. Be sure to include your name and ACC ID# in the body of the email message.
