SDD18: Student Rights & Responsibilities

There several separate policies that are covered under the umbrella of student rights and responsibilities. This interactive workshop will cover the various policies and procedures with the goal of giving faculty and staff the tools they need to better serve students in this most critical area. Items covered will include student conduct, student complaints, and establishing relationships with the student services resources on campus. This workshop will be very informative for new adjunct or the returning full time faculty member.

A participant in this workshop will walk away with:
An understanding of the student conduct process
An understanding of the student complaint process
A brief introduction to Title IX
A better understanding of how to interface with student services to better serve students

Dr. Dorado M. Kinney is executive dean of ACC’s central region campuses (Highland, Eastview, and Rio Grande). He had been student services dean at Highland Campus since the campus opened in 2014. He also served as Eastview Campus student services dean. Dorado has more than 20 years of experience as a student affairs administrator at two-year and four year institutions. He has worked in Greek life, multicultural student affairs, new student orientation, student judicial affairs, and student athlete support services. At ACC, Dorado has led multiple districtwide initiatives. He led early efforts to transition from paper advising documents to electronic forms. He has led the development of student disciplinary policies and the implementation of a districtwide system to track and monitor disciplinary cases.
