GA16: The Challenges of Supervision: Leadership Strategies to Impact the Workplace

Hours: 1.5

In this workshop we will explore several ideas, concepts and theories regarding the relationship between the "supervisor and supervisee" and their connection to broader system planning and evaluation. The ideal supervisory situation consist of (1) safe conversations; (2) task specific structure; (3) approaches that allow for variance in work styles; and (4) adaptive roles of response. We will make use of the Hersey and Blanchard Situational Leadership Theory, Diana Whitney's Appreciative Leadership approach to Organizational Development and Harville Hendrix and Helen Hunt Safe Conversations Relational Science as we consider various dimensions of the supervisory relationship.
