GA15: Creating Ownership: Undergraduate Research at ACC
Hours: 1.5
Educational research has discovered that undergraduate research improves student retention and success in science, especially in the under-represented minority and poorly prepared college student populations. Austin Community College is a member of the Community College Research Initiative (CCURI). CCURI facilitates the engagement of community college faculty and students in undergraduate research for the purpose of involving students in the process of science. In this talk, a panel composed of both faculty and students will share their experiences from the last few years of undergraduate research projects here at ACC, including how these experiences have changed how they view science and have affected their career plans. Learn how you can get involved in this exciting initiative at ACC!
