GA15: Mindset: Pathway to Our Students’ Success

Hours: 1.5

Over four decades of research by Dr. Carol Dweck and others has demonstrated that the beliefs students have about themselves are a major factor in their success or failure in school.

Students with a fixed mindset believe that their intelligence and talents are fixed traits which cannot be improved. Students with a growth mindset believe their intelligence and talents can be increased through effort and hard work. A growth mindset contributes to success and a fixed mindset makes failure more likely.

In this interactive session you will learn ideas for creating a growth mindset for yourself and for teaching students how to develop their own growth mindset.
