GA15: What's New with Clickers

Hours: 1.5

This will be a demonstration of the latest clicker technology. This will include the latest classroom set of clickers that ICT supports, Plickers, and online versions such as Pear Deck. Participants are encouraged to bring their smart phones or tablets to enhance their participation in this workshop.

Herb Coleman, Ph.D is an adjunct professor of psychology and the Director of Instructional Computing and Technology at Austin Community College.

In his role as Director of Instructional Computing and Technology he assists faculty in obtaining, learning and using technology to enhance instruction. He has trained faculty in using technology such as Skype, Twitter, Wiggio, pocket cams, YouTube, computer classroom control software and iPads in instruction. As the Colleges Copyright Compliance Officer, he also frequently leads discussions on copyright and computer ethics.

He has taught psychology at Austin Community College since 1989 including 10 years of teaching human sexuality and 12 years of teaching human growth and development. Since 2008 he has employed Team-Based Learning as his mode of instruction and has written a chapter for a book on team-based learning for the social sciences. In 2014 he was featured on the Society for the Teaching of Psychology, How I Teach, blog. Dr. Coleman uses technology from clickers and podcasts to N-Computing and social networking in his classrooms.
