Combined Sections - Process Change?

Apparently a process change was enacted recently that changes the way LEH are assigned to specific course sections within a combined course. The intent of the change is to make an improvement in the payroll calculations of faculty assigned to course sections, but the process change will require a significant programming modification to the eStaffing system.
Suggestion: IT to meet with Dianne, Sue, and Gillian in order to fully understand the process change, and to create a plan from which IT can work from.

Review of Exemption from eStaffing Policy

eStaffing Committee will allow Department Chairs & Deans seeking an exemption from the Administration Rule that requires using eStaffing for staffing adjunct professors to course sections to present a formal case for a departmental exemption at the February 13, 2017 committee meeting.
Mention of this will be included in the communication that goes to Deans with the Compliance Report packet.

Problem with Adding New Persons to Appointment & Eligibility Rosters

Sue is opposed to the present functionality regarding the adding of new persons to the Appointment and Eligibility Rosters. The system currently prevents the adding of persons once the eStaffing windows for a specific semester has ended.
Other DCs/Admins seemed sympathetic. The argument in support of the present functionality is that adding persons after the semester has ended seems to distort reality. If the person was not on the rosters, then they could not have entered preferences or accepted assignments. Thus, why add them to the rosters after the fact?

Partial Semesters - Request to incorporate them into Section Pref Filtering

For adjunct instructors in departments with many course sections available, having some mechanism for distinguishing partial semesters from full semesters is desired. A number of possible suggestions were mentioned. Having some kind of SORT function, like with Travelocity, seemed like a possible starting point for exploring options.
