Documentation for the Accounting Tax Specialist
Presenter
Reed Peoples
Discussion
Discussion to the Tax Specialist and which classes to add to it; one option was to take out one of the Economics classes to add another Accounting class. Another suggestion was to create a new Tax Specialist degree all together.
Corrected the clerical error in the Economics class, approve the Accounting Specialist and create a Tax Specialist Certificate. This was approved by the Task Force.
This certificate is for students that want to transfer and need certain courses to get into a Master's program at a neighbor institution; with the forward movement of Guided Pathways, these neighbor institutions worked with us to approve of these classes. A suggestion was made that we send a letter of appreciation to St. Edward's Accounting Department Chair for the her insight and advice on these matters. Also, a change in the Accounting Specialist Marketable Skills Award to remove Acnt-2309 and replace it with ACNT 2332. Approved by the Task Force
The certificate was not approved by the Curriculum committee because of the Business English and Business Math courses; the Curriculum committee stated the certificates has to have the same courses as the degree. The question asked to Mr. Voss related to the difference in Business Math and English and other Math and English courses offered.
Dr. Peoples and Mr. Voss will check to see if Financial Aid will approve of the certificate 100%.
