Item # 2:
New 'D' (Delete) Status Code for Course Sections
Presenter
Andrew
Discussion
'D' (for Delete) was added as a valid COURSE.SECTIONS status.
This was a necessary change in order to fix the problem of COURSE.SECTIONS records being created, then deleted, leaving orphaned records that pointed to non-existent COURSE.SECTIONS records.
Due to the need to get in this place swiftly in order to support eStaffing for the Summer 2016 staffing period, it was moved into production shortly after the last CORE meeting.

CORE Committee alerted that there was a request for delay due to possible changes to request.
Item # 4:
Update on Course Description & Course Section Notes
Presenter
Andrew
Discussion
There have been requests to populate the Course Description field in the COURSES file from the data entered in the CMS system. IT is in the latter stages of completing a process that will populate the Course Description field (CRS.DESC in Unidata; CRS_DESC in ODS) in Colleague. Similarly, the Course Section Notes (Unidata: SEC.PRINTED.COMMENTS; ODS: SEC_PRINTED_COMMENTS) will be migrated into Colleague's COURSE.SECTIONS file. The exact date is still undetermined, but its move into production is relatively imminent.
Item # 5:
Block Scheduling
Presenter
Dianne
Discussion
There is a new state mandate for public colleges to implement 'block scheduling'.
Contrary to uninformed rumor, Colleague can do block scheduling. However, as with all successful logical endeavors, it is helpful to know what exactly is being planned.
The Block Scheduling that is being proposed is different than the sponsored CE scheduling that has been done previously where multiple CE students are block registered into 1 section. The Block Scheduling that is being proposed currently is thought to be one in which blocks of sections are created where students can enroll for one section and be automatically rolled into the other sections in the same block.
Before a solution is crafted, it is important to know whether any of the blocked sections have different length semesters, what the rules are if a student withdraws or drops from one of the sections, and whether the payment processing procedures differ at all from the standard processes regarding individual sections.
