Item # 2:
Release of Spring 2014 eStaffing Compliance Report
Presenter
Andrew
Discussion
The Committee recommended making a few minor changes (such as replacing ''No.'' with ''#''), and putting a link to the report from the main eStaffing webpage.
Item # 3:
Review of Spring 2014 eStaffing
Presenter
Committee
Discussion
The Math Department reported that the ''Max Credit'' value on the Faculty Accept/Reject page is still inaccurate. It seems to display the number of credits that were assigned or accepted, rather than the maximum allowed for the adjunct faculty member.
The GIS department had a problem in Phase 2 that was a result of an inadvertent flag setting. The flag allowing faculty members to accept or reject all offered course sections, rather than one section at a time, had mistakenly been set to ''Yes''. The eStaffing Committee had decided several years ago to no longer allow faculty to accept all assignments with one click because some adjunct faculty were neglecting to complete their book order selections when accepting all sections at once.
An unsubstantiated rumor was reported that one academic department manipulated eStaffing in Phase 1 to give highest priority to retired full-time faculty members. That is, retired faculty were placed in the assignment queue with the top priority -- before MSTA Exception, MSTA, and HPTH, etc.
Item # 4:
Update on eStaffing Executive Module Redesign
Presenter
Kathy
Discussion
The Executive Module is coming along fine, and is expected to be ready in January, 2014 -- in time for Summer 2014 eStaffing. A proper demo of it should be available at the December eStaffing meeting.
Members of the Redesign Subcommittee reported that they liked the new look to the executive module, the display of teaching history, the flagging of 'senior' status, the distinction between 'HYC' and 'HYD' sections, and that there is less ''flipping'' between screens required.
Item # 5:
Future Modifications for eStaffing
Presenter
Committee
Discussion
It was reported that the Early College Start modification proposal, introduced at the May, 2013 meeting, was actually approved by ACAC over the summer and the change was officially signed. The modification is being incorporated into the Executive module redesign. The modification is to create a new eligibility level for ECS course sections, and the system's ability to distinguish between ECS and the standard college course sections.
Item # 6:
Additional Discussion Items
Presenter
Committee
Discussion
The proposal to replace the ''MSTA Exception'' category with ''MSTA Senior'' seems to be moving forward, but is still only ''in progress''. The ACAC had agreed to let the AFA review the proposal. Upon review, the AFA presented some recommendations.
The eStaffing Committee willl request that the AFA send their recommendations to the Committee in time for the December meeting, so that the eStaffing Committee can forward an official recommendation, if appropriate, to the ACAC.
